Aluminum crampons are great in your pack on the approach as they're soooooo light. But they're less durable and more breakable than steel.
Aluminum front points are reinforced with steel alloy attachments, so they're sharper for higher penetration and increased security and significantly more resistant to wear and tear. (Though note the remaining aluminum-only points will wear on rock.) An excellent choice for expeditions and low-angle mixed routes where light weight and high strength are at a premium.
